Read Exodus 22:21. Yahwah commands: "You shall neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress them, for you were strangers in the land of Matsarim / Egypt." The Hebrew words behind 'mistreat,' 'stranger,' and 'oppress' reveal a much richer picture than the English translation suggests.
